Parental presence in the pediatric intensive care unit

Background. Currently, parental presence at the bedside of critically ill children in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is a necessary family-oriented condition. In published sources, there enough evidence that shows special emotional state parents, their complex interactions with medical staff PICU, as well attitude doctors and nurses to department, especially during manipulation on patients. Ukraine, only some centers parents were allowed visit but permanent stay patient’s was not allowed. 2016, order Ministry Health Ukraine No. 592 “On approval Procedure for admission visitors patients undergoing inpatient treatment unit” determined procedure rules patient who unit. However, this Order established adult units. The purpose work consider various strategic directions ensuring access sick PICU try adapt issues current our care. Results. article discusses such ethical practical situation regarding visiting child PICU. concepts “visiting” or “presence” are considered, conditions defined when can visit, they long time; possibility manipulations procedures; role communicating impact state. Conclusions. Given real need be present unit, we must careful prudent making decision.
